Position Summary:
The Advancement Associate will play an important role in:
  • Maintaining organizational culture of philanthropy.
  • Working collaboratively with the Advancement team to plan and execute strategic direction, working especially closely with the Communications Associate on appeals, social media, printed materials, and event materials.
  • Growing philanthropic support for the organization including maintaining connections with individual donors, volunteers, board members, and civic and faith communities through fundraising activities and individual stewardship.
Position Responsibilities:
Individual Giving Program Support
  • Work on all aspects of donor touchpoints (print and email appeals, event communications, personal contact) to increase cohesiveness of donor messaging and ensure consistency of visual story.
  • Help identify individuals who have interest in and capacity to support operational and strategic initiatives.
  • Meet with donors to steward the relationship from a community centric approach to development.
  • Conduct donor analysis/research/capacity/prospecting and stewardship as directed by Director of Advancement.
  • Prepare reports, mailing lists, donor segmentation, and prospect lists as needed to support the work of the Advancement team.
  • Manage systems that support strong donor and funder relationships including gift processing, data entry, acknowledgements, information management, report development, special events tracking, etc.
In-Kind Giving and Volunteers
  • Lead strategy for in-kind gifts from individuals and faith and corporate partners. Work alongside key program staff to identify needs with an emphasis on items that programs would typically be purchased with program budget.
  • Track value of in-kind gifts in partnership with the Finance Department.
  • Manage group and individual volunteer opportunities and volunteer requests from program staff.
  • Partner with Community Outreach and Engagement Manager to align volunteer and intern management processes.
  • When requested, present about Missions Inc. Programs to community groups or attend tabling opportunities.
Event Planning and Management
  • Support logistics for special events as directed by the Director of Advancement.
  • Oversee design and creation of collateral and marketing materials for the event.
  • Work with Director of Advancement on creative visioning and strategy for annual and special events.
  • Act as day-of coordinator and main point person for volunteers and vendors during events.
Other Duties as Assigned
  • As part of a small team, there are opportunities to be part of diverse initiatives including special events, public speaking about the work of Missions Inc. and more.
  • Help execute the strategies around special outreach, appeals and events.
  • Actively participate in strategic advancement plans.
  • Provide logistical support for the Director of Advancement.
Position Qualifications:
Education and Experience
  • Two or more years of direct fundraising support experience.
  • Experience working with databases and donor management software (Bloomerang)
  • Experience with or interest in working on a diverse and collaborative team.
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Able to engage people in conversations that steward the relationship and increase transformational giving.
  • Excellent communication skills; able to communicate effectively and articulately in writing and orally.
  • Ability and interest in analyzing data.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Preferred: proficiency in Adobe suite.
  • Ability to track and manage projects with multiple timelines and priority levels.
  • Ability to work well with people from diverse racial, cultural, social and economic backgrounds.
Other Requirements:
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Ability to travel when needed.
  • Passion for and commitment to the mission and goals of Missions, Inc.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Salary range: $47,000 – $50,000/year depending on qualifications & experience
